JCAHO cutting jobs because of BBA fallout
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations has announced it is eliminating 97 central office positions due to fallout from the Balanced Budget Act (BBA) of 1997. Forty-eight of the 97 positions are currently vacant.
The Joint Commission has reported that
its business has been affected by closures and mergers of provider organizations as a result
of reimbursement cuts enacted under the Balanced Budget Act. The Joint Commission was expected to announce cuts to its surveyor staff later.
