Matria acquires additional managed care access
In other Matria news, the company has entered into a nonbinding letter of intent with Apria Healthcare Group of Cosa Mesa, CA, to form a strategic alliance to provide women’s health services and coordinated care to managed care organizations throughout the country. A final agreement between the parties was expected before the end of 1996.
The agreement will afford Matria Healthcare exclusive access to Apria Healthcare managed care customers who seek a single provider for all home care services, while giving Apria the ability to service the clinical needs of high-risk pregnant women in additional markets. Apria Healthcare, one of the nation’s largest integrated home health care providers, says managed care is about 30% of its payer mix.
In addition to providing services to Apria under this arrangement, Matria says it will continue to offer services independently to patients, physicians, employers, and third-party payers.
