CCRN exam goes high-tech
Beginning in 1998, the CCRN certification test will become strictly a PC operation. The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) conducted its last pencil and paper examination for the certification in August, and starting in 1998 all examinations must be taken on personal computers. For test takers, the new procedure offers more convenience and feedback. Previously, the exam was offered at 88 locations around the country, and only in February and August. Under the new format the test can be taken at 240 sites any time during the year. CCRN candidates simply need to schedule the time and place of the exam. Beginning in January, the number of test sites will rise to more than 400.
Candidates also will learn immediately how they fared. The computer system will provide an immediate score report, and an official report will be mailed in three to four weeks.
