Accreditation group to do behavioral record reviews
COLA, a physician-directed national healthcare accreditation organization based in Columbia, MD, will start conducting medical record and facility reviews of psychiatrists and behavioral health specialists within the Bethesda-based American Psych Systems’ provider network.
Nearly 40 sites and 240 providers in eight states will be under review, and COLA will work directly with mental health care professionals and staff, scheduling evaluations, conducting on-site reviews, and reporting results back to American Psych Systems. COLA will also provide on-site education to these professionals based on American Psych Systems’ guidelines. Among the items to be reviewed at each facility are patient safety issues, convenience, and access. The record review will look at three charts per physician for compliance with content, organization, and confidentiality guidelines.
