New drug monographs are available

The University Health System Consortium has 17 drug monographs planned for this year. Several new releases are now available. They include:

• Antidiabetic Agents (TD0100)
  
• Aspirin 25 mg/Extended-Release Dipyridamole 200 mg (TD0900)
  
• Thrombolytics for Acute Myocardial Infarction (TD0200)
  
• Etanercept (TD0300)
  
• COX-2 (TD0400)
  
• System Pharmacologics for VZV (TD0500)
  
• Bisphosphonates (TD0600)

The monographs include comprehensive evaluations of drugs that are under review or were recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration, with a special focus on those that may significantly affect patient care and hospital finances.

Each monograph includes a discussion of financial implications and contains information on indications, clinical efficacy, and adverse effects, along with a consideration of alternative drug therapies and recommendations for appropriate use.

An annual subscription for the series is $500, and individual monographs are $50.
