Professional development special report: Case management in the e-care era

A report released late last year at PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Thought Leadership Forum in Cambridge, MA, predicted the Internet will be a driving force that dramatically changes the face of health care delivery. PricewaterhouseCoopers asked 400 policy-makers, health care executives, physicians, insurers, employers, and medical supply vendors in the United States, Europe, Canada, and the Pacific Rim about their predictions for the future of health care. A staggering 89% predicted that in-office physician visits will decrease as more physicians offer Web-based consulting tools. (For more on the report, see Case Management Advisor, January 2000, pp. 1-4.) In this issue, you will find the latest survey results about Internet privacy, safety, and the innovative ways health care organizations are using the Internet to improve the health of their members.
