Diabetes QI coalition to develop national performance measures
President Clinton announced in August an initiative to develop universal criteria that will help improve the outcomes of diabetics. The Diabetes Quality Improvement Project, spearheaded by the American Diabetes Association, plans to bring together both public and private-sector organizations to develop diabetes-specific performance and outcome measures that providers and health plans must strive to achieve for their diabetes patients.
