HCFA project re-evaluating time frame
The Health Care Financing Administration’s competitive demonstration project, scheduled to begin the procurement process in July, may be pushed back.
The project, using Palmetto Government Benefit Administration of Columbia, SC, as the contractor, is scheduled to include enteral nutrition, oxygen, surgical dressing, urological supplies, and hospital beds and accessories, says Elaine Myers, project director at Palmetto.
The sites for the project have not yet been selected. Once they are, any interested suppliers or providers may submit an application to take part in the project.
"They could use this opportunity to increase their volume," notes Myers. "Once we go through the procurement process, we will list the winning suppliers, and the beneficiaries will select from them. Once the project is over, it will be up to the beneficiary if they decide to stay with them."
Look for more information on submitting an application to take part in the project in a future issue of Home Infusion Therapy Management.
