Update: New Hampshire board responds
The New Hampshire State Board of Nursing in Concord recently denied registered nurse license renewal applications to several nurses in that state working in nontraditional nursing roles, including case management. At press time, two nurses working for a managed care organization in New Hampshire were still waiting the results of their appeal of that denial.
However, Doris Nuttelman, RN, EdD, executive director of the New Hampshire State Board of Nursing, did respond to a letter from the Case Management Society of America. She wrote: "There appears to be considerable misunderstanding regarding the Board’s monitoring of compliance with the statute and rules. For accuracy and correctness, your letter will be referred to the Board’s September 1999 meeting."
