VistaCare grows bigger
VistaCare, a rapidly growing proprietary hospice chain based in Scottsdale, AZ, struck again in June by acquiring Family Hospice of Dallas, with operations in three states. This combination results in a hospice organization serving approximately 1,800 dying patients a day in 15 states, with combined revenues of over $75 million.
The acquisition also makes Vista the second largest hospice operator in the country, after Miami-based Vitas Healthcare Corporation. Family Hospice was founded by James and Carol Reese in 1988, and by itself was one of the country's largest hospice providers.
