Personnel moves at national associations
The National Hospice Foundation in Arlington, VA, has named Karen A. Davie as its new president, effective July 1. In February, Davie assumed duties as the chief executive of the National Hospice Organization (NHO), which is the foundation's parent organization.
John J. Mahoney, who recently ended a 14-year tenure as the NHO's president but had continued to serve as the foundation's president, left the foundation July 1 to pursue other career interests. Mahoney was a conspicuous presence at the NHO's management conference in St. Louis, in early June. He says he hopes to consult with hospices on compliance issues.
In other personnel developments, Stephen Connor, PhD, co-executive director of the Alliance of Community Hospices in Elizabethtown, KY, has been named NHO's new vice president for research and professional direction, starting in July. He succeeds Galen Miller, PhD, who moves on to the American Association of Health Plans in Washington, DC.
In other moves, Diane H. Jones, MSW, ACSW, is stepping down as executive director of the Hospice Association of America in Washington, DC, at the end of July to become executive director of the Veteran Administration's End-of-life Faculty Leadership Project (see HMA, August 1998, p. 101-102), funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation of Princeton, NJ.
