Report offers how-to for post-acute networks
It’s no secret that being part of a comprehensive post-acute network makes subacute providers more attractive to managed care.
But how exactly does one go about creating successful one-stop shopping for managed care payers? Providers can learn from others’ experiences by reading Case Studies in Managed Care, a technical assistance brief published by the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA), a national nonprofit organization in Washington, DC.
The 33-page report offers 11 experiences of urban, rural, and suburban providers who collaborated in developing post-acute networks, says Scott Parkin, vice president of public affairs for AAHSA.
"The common thread we see in all of these case studies is that integrating requires a visionary leader and an energetic board who can assess the community and its health care needs and then create an innovative model that fills the payers’ needs, as well," adds Parkin.
