Helping board trustees make ethical decisions
The Briarcliffe Manor, NY-based Hastings Center in Briarcliffe Manor, NY, and the New York Academy of Medicine in New York City have announced a two-year collaborative research initiative focused on the role of hospital trustees in organizational decision making. The groups will develop a set of principles that should govern trustee conduct. Specifically, the researchers will review recent decisions of some hospitals regarding decisions to form health care networks, to begin or close certain medical services, and to convert from nonprofit to for-profit status.
