News Brief: Hospital services cut, AHA survey data show

In 2001, hospitals were more likely to reduce rather than add to the total number of services they provided, according to a recent report from the American Hospital Association (AHA).
Of more than 90 services tracked by the AHA in its Annual Survey of Hospitals, roughly 50 were less likely to be offered in 2001 compared to 2000. The services information is based on data collected from 4,178 hospitals that responded to the survey for both years. The survey is part of the 2002-2003 AHA Guide, which contains information on more than 6,000 hospitals and health care organizations.
