Neuraminidase inhibitors are a class of antivirals that have activity against both influenza A and B viruses. Influenza neuraminidase cleaves terminal sialic acid residues and damages the receptors recognized by viral hemagglutinin, thereby facilitating release of virus from infected cells. -
