Intracranial EEG Activity and Consciousness in Frontal Lobe Seizures
Frontal seizures were classified as focal preserved consciousness (FPC), focal impaired consciousness (FIC), or focal to bilateral tonic-clonic (FBTC). Intracranial electroencephalogram (icEEG) recording was analyzed in those seizures. FPC seizures showed significant icEEG power increases in the seizure-onset region across frequency ranges, with smaller increases in other regions. FIC seizures demonstrated a significant increase in icEEG power not only within the seizure-onset zone but also across distal cortical regions. Widespread power increases also were noted in FBTC seizures. In addition, the power increase in FBTC is much greater compared to FIC seizures.

Medications for Women Aged 10 to 50 Years with Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy
After failure of first-line anti-seizure medication, women with idiopathic generalized epilepsy may receive either substitution monotherapy or add-on therapy. There were no significant differences in effectiveness or safety between substitution monotherapy and add-on therapy in this retrospective comparative study.

Are New-Onset Seizures Associated with SARS-CoV-2 Vaccines?
In this meta-analysis, there was no statistically significant difference in the risk of new-onset seizure incidence between vaccinated individuals and placebo recipients in the 28-day post-injection period. Similarly, in the post-injection entire blinded phase (median follow-up 148, 121, and 43 days in three trials), no significant difference was observed between the vaccine and placebo recipients regarding the incidence of new developing seizures.

Seizures in Adolescents: Motor or Nonmotor?
The rate at which motor vs. nonmotor seizures are recognized in adolescents is unknown. This retrospective analysis demonstrates a high rate of misrecognition of nonmotor seizures among adolescents presenting to an emergency department and frequent misrecognition of any nonmotor seizures in those presenting with a first-time motor seizure.

Using data collected from an Australian registry, a population-based cohort study identified risk factors for early post-traumatic seizures (EPS), associated morbidity and mortality, and contribution to development of post-traumatic epilepsy (PTE). EPS were associated with significant in-hospital morbidity, poorer outcomes, and increased risk of mortality at 24 months of follow-up. Patients with EPS had a higher risk of developing PTE.
