HIPDB raises query fees, makes other changes
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced that the query fees for the Healthcare Integrity and Protection Data Bank (HIPDB) and possibly the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) are rising.
The fee for querying the HIPDB was raised to $5 per query on Oct. 1, 2001, up from the previous $4. The same increase might be made for HIPDB queries, according to HHS. Also, there is a new system for performing a self-query. Previous versions of self-query applications will no longer be accepted.
Self-queries now must be completed and transmitted through the NPDB-HIPDB web site at www.npdb-hipdb.com. After completing the application on the web site, you will be able to print it and then mail a notarized copy to the data banks.
