AIDS has been the No. 1 cause of death among African-American women, ages 25-34, in the United States, and it’s one of the top causes for African-American women ages 20 to 44, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Moreover, African-American women’s share of AIDS cases has been growing steadily in the past decade, and now women represent one-third of all new AIDS cases reported among African-Americans, the CDC data show.
