Healthy communities initiatives don't always seem to address "health" in the short term, but in the long term they improve patient education outcomes. For instance, teaching new job skills can result in patients having more income with which to purchase more nutritious foods. Many people suffer from chronic diseases and their complications because of these kinds of limitations. In the second of a two-part series on reaching underserved populations, Patient Education Management explores healthy communities initiatives. Projects born from this movement often lay the groundwork for successful education.
