Humana Sells California HMO
Louisville, KY-based Humana Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to sell its California HMO, HMO California, to HealthMax Inc., a privately held Los Angeles firm. The transaction is consistent with Humana’s strategy of concentrating its growth in core markets, says Gregory H. Wolf, Humana’s president and chief operating officer.
HMO California has slightly fewer than 10,000 members in four southern California counties.
As part of the transaction, Humana will provide administrative services to HMO California for six months after the deal is closed. The transaction currently is awaiting state regulatory approval.
