The Essentials of Contraceptive Technology is a new handbook providing up-to-date reproductive health information for providers around the world. The softbound book focuses on major contraceptive methods and prevention/ treatment of sexually transmitted diseases.
Authors include Robert A. Hatcher, professor of gynecology and obstetrics at Emory Univer-sity in Atlanta; Ward Rinehart, project director of the Population Information Program at the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs, Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Baltimore; and two members of the center’s research journal, Population Reports: Richard Blackburn, senior research analyst, and Judith S. Geller, research analyst.
The handbook includes recommendations from the scientific working group on medical eligibility criteria organized by the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, and by the Technical Guidance/Competence Working Group initiated by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Washington, DC. USAID provided a grant for production of the book.
