More of the same in new standards manual
Good news for agencies facing surveys in 1999: the new manual from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) will have no major changes, according to Maryann Popovich, RN, MPH, director of home care accreditation services for JCAHO.
By early March, Popovich says the group working on the new manual had eliminated six standards - either because they were merged into others, or in one case, because they found one standard that was a complete duplication of another.
Popovich says further information on the new manual will be available later in the spring.
