E/M guidelines delayed, but not dead
Physician practices are breathing a collective sigh of relief over HCFA's decision to delay implementation of the E/M coding guidelines, which were originally scheduled to go into effect in July. However, the verdict - announced at an American Medical Association-sponsored emergency fly-in meeting in Chicago - shouldn't be interpreted as an unqualified victory for physicians.
