More about the JHS partnership
The University of Mississippi Medical Center handles the patient examinations. Tougaloo trains undergraduate researchers to help the Jackson (MS) Health Study (JHS). But Jackson State University has to process all the data.
"It will be an incredible repository of information," says Herman Taylor, MD, director of the Jackson Heart Study and cardiologist at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, also in Jackson.
Caregivers will not only have the JHS studies to follow, but future studies at other facilities can put some of the JHS information to further use when they need to look at specific data related to black patients.
