Manual outlines QI steps
A guide to help you conduct quality improvement projects has been published by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The manual, Using Performance Improvement Tools in Health Care Settings, includes worksheets, flow charts, storyboards, checklists, charts, simple language, and case studies. It also has an exercise on tracking medical records that could help you reduce the time you spend hunting for missing charts.
The 168-page manual is $50 and comes with a free pocket guide, Using Performance Improvement Tools. Additional copies of the guide also can be ordered, with 10 copies costing $25. To order, call the Joint Commission’s Customer Service Center at (630) 916-5800.
