PSO concept closer to reality at HCFA

If your practice is keeping track of the progress HCFA is making in providing more details and guidelines on provider-sponsored organizations (PSOs), the following dates may be helpful to put on your planning calendar.

April 1 Interim solvency rules scheduled to be issued.

June 1 Interim Medicare+ Choice rules scheduled to be available.

Aug. 1 PSO applications must be submitted to be considered for Jan. 1, 1999 start-up. (Editor’s note: Washington insiders say it’s likely this date will be pushed back.)

Jan. 1, 1999 PSO program scheduled to become effective.
