Physician bargaining bill outlook turns bleak

Enthusiasm over the House’s recent passage of legislation permitting independent physicians and other providers to gather and collectively bargain with health plans was quickly dampened after Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-MS) let it be known he opposes the measure. Lott says the bill would just create more lawsuits while strengthening organized labor’s health care hand.
