Coronary care networks improve mortality rates

Coronary care networks impact positively on mortality rates and quality of care, or so it would seem if Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield coronary services network in Ohio can be held up as an example.

Since the organization was formed four years ago, mortality rates dropped well below national averages, rates of heart attack within 24 hours of surgery are 64% lower, and the average length of stay for bypasses has declined 27%. Patients are recovering faster and suffering fewer complications. The network garnered a patient satisfaction rating of 3.6 on a scale of 0-4.
