Employee Code of Ethics
Responsibility to Clients
I AFFIRM THAT:
I shall not discriminate against or refuse professional services to anyone on the basis of race, color, age, sex, religion, national origin, political beliefs, or disability.
I shall not use my professional relationship with clients to further my own interests or those of outside organizations to which I belong.
I shall not abandon or neglect clients in treatment without making reasonable arrangements for the continuation of such treatment.
I shall maintain a genuine interest in the welfare of all my clients, and I hereby dedicate myself to the best interest of my clients and to helping them help themselves.
Confidentiality
I AFFIRM THAT:
I shall respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of professional service.
I shall be responsible to store and/or dispose of clients' records in ways that maintain confidentiality.
I shall maintain a professional attitude which respects confidentiality toward clients, colleagues, applicants, and any sensitive situations arising within the agency.
I, upon my termination, shall maintain client and co-worker confidentiality and shall hold as confidential, information about sensitive situations within Beaumont Home Health Service.
Responsibility to Colleagues
I AFFIRM THAT:
I shall respect the rights and views of my fellow professionals and treat them with fairness, courtesy, and good faith.
I shall be aware of potential influences on students and co-workers and will not exploit their trust. I will make every effort to avoid dual relationships and conflicts of interest that could impair my professional judgment.
I shall not engage in or condone any form of harassment or discrimination.
I shall respect the confidences of my co-workers, except where such confidences disclose endangerment, disregard, or impairment of the welfare of a client or Beaumont Home Health.
I shall extend respect and cooperate with colleagues of all professions.
If I have the responsibility for employing and evaluating the performance of other staff, I shall do so in a responsible, fair, considerate, and equitable manner.
If I know firsthand that a colleague has violated ethical standards, I shall immediately report each violation to the agency director.
Responsibility to Agency
I AFFIRM THAT:
I shall work to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of services provided by the agency.
I shall not engage in any unlawful discrimination in assigning work or in implementing personnel policies or practices.
I shall use the resources of the agency only for the purposes for which they are intended.
I shall fulfill any and all commitments made by me to the agency.
I shall maintain respect for agency policies, procedures, and management decisions.
I shall support the integrity and reputation of the agency.
Professional Competency
I AFFIRM THAT:
I have a total commitment to provide the highest quality of care to those who seek my professional services.
I shall act in accordance with the highest standards of professional integrity.
I shall not attempt to diagnose, treat, or advise individuals regarding problems outside the recognized bounds of my competence/scope of practice.
I shall seek appropriate professional assistance for my own personal problems or conflicts that are likely to impair my work performance and my clinical judgment.
