Goals of prevention services for HIV-positive people
Here are the main goals of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's program offering prevention services for HIV-positive patients:
· offering client-centered counseling with continuous support for all HIV-infected people;
· providing multi-session counseling for those most likely to transmit the virus;
· developing strategies for working with those individuals who have trouble modifying risky behaviors;
· considering all patients at risk of transmitting HIV as candidates for prevention case management services;
· providing sex and needle-sharing partner counseling and referral services for all HIV-infected people;
· ensuring priority for drug treatment services for HIV-infected injected drug users.
