HCFA releases new on-line program integrity manual

The Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) has released a new Program Integrity Manual that consolidates anti-fraud guidance from previous manuals for Medicare carriers, fiscal intermediaries, and providers.

Although the manual consolidates previously issued program integrity instructions, the content of the new instructions hasn't substantially changed. According to HCFA, intermediaries are responsible for notifying providers to retrieve the new manual on the Internet and ensuring that providers know how to access the material.
