Internet-based tool offers vendor information

A joint venture of 16 state and metro health care associations, including the American Hospital Association, is offering an Internet-based tool with information from manufacturers about the year 2000 compliance status of their equipment.

The joint venture, called Allied Healthcare Association Services, is offering the computerized information repository through Security Third Millennium, an affiliate of the Connecticut Hospital Association in Wallingford.

As of Sept. 1, subscribers can electronically submit an inventory of their equipment to Security Third Millennium, and that inventory will be matched to the information in the repository. One-time subscription charges range from $2,500 to $20,000, depending on a facility's annual expenses.
