MGMA releases conference agenda

How to succeed in the health care system of the future is a recurring theme of many of the general sessions planned for the upcoming annual Medical Group Management Association conference, scheduled for Oct. 4-7 in Denver.

General sessions include a presentation on how physician-centered systems are key to success, one on population-based health care policy, and a session including former Colorado governor Richard Lamm on "The Price of Modern Medicine."

Lawrence Lewin, chairman and CEO of the consulting company The Lewin Group in Fairfax, VA, is the keynote speaker. He will discuss how physician-centered health care is the future, but at the same time, the physicians who take leadership roles in health care must adopt some of the behaviors of management figures they often oppose now.

There will also be sessions on the role of technology and health care financing, and breakout sessions on topics as diverse as benchmarking and market analysis.

The conference costs $615 for MGMA members and $820 for nonmembers. There are also special fees for life members and corporate affiliates. For further information, call (800) 483-1934.
