ACLU prints handbook on legal questions
Can a hospital refuse you treatment for HIV? Can an insurance company terminate coverage for HIV-positive people?
Those are some of the questions that the American Civil Liberties Union answers in a new handbook for people with HIV infection.
Called The Rights of People Who Are HIV-Positive, the booklet provides useful guidelines about HIV law and policy. It is divided into four sections: science and public health; living with HIV disease; discrimination against people with HIV disease; and HIV disease in special settings.
The book costs $13.95 and can be purchased by faxing a request to the attention of the ACLU handbook manager at (212) 869-9065.
