Senior Rehab Technician Training Sessions

• Upper extremity range of motion exercises

• Activities of daily living

• Continuous passive motion (CPM) and physician protocols for orthopedic patient, including how to operate the CPM unit

• Balance

• Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), cold packs and massage, including operation of TENS unit, application of cold packs and massage, precautions and contraindications

• Hot packs and ultrasounds

• General stroke information

• Documentation in vital signs, including how to interpret vital signs in the chart

• Basic neurology, including dealing with deficits after a neurological incident, such as a stroke

• Bed mobility and transfers

• Gait training, including use of adaptive equipment

• Lower extremity range of motion and exercise

• Whirlpool operation and wound care

• Passy Muir speaking valves: Techs are trained to put the valve on for stable patients

• Swallowing
