NCQA credentials program draws fire
Delegates at a recent meeting of the Chicago-based American Medical Association were fuming at the failure of credentials verification organizations (CVOs) to receive full certification from the NCQA. Of 11 CVOs operated by state and county medical societies, eight received partial certification.
By using certified credentials verification organizations, health plans can delegate the massive task of checking physicians’ credentials.
"We’re confident that the medical society CVOs have the ability to comply with these standards and win certification," says NCQA spokesman Barry Scholl. "We’re willing and eager to work with them to ensure that those organizations can gain certification."
