Agency launches a better outcomes database
A public database of clinical performance measures will become more extensive and user-friendly with the development of a Quality Measurement Network (QMNet), the federal Agency for Health Care Policy and Research in Rockville, MD, announced.
QMNet will expand the current Computerized Needs-Oriented Quality Measurement Evaluation System (CONQUEST) 1.0 by covering more medical conditions and other performance-related issues, such as potentially preventable adverse outcomes and co-morbidities. QMNet also will provide technical support via phone, Internet, and mail.
In November, the agency awarded a $5 million, three-year contract to MEDSTAT to develop QMNet. Based in Santa Barbara, CA, MEDSTAT is a computer consulting firm that specializes in database development. The firm also will work with the Harvard School of Public Health in Cambridge, MA.
