CA extends application time for LTC program
The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) has decided to kick off a new three-month application period for its popular Long-Term Care Program and private duty providers might reap the benefits.
More than 70,000 California public employees, retirees, and their family members signed up for the CalPERS Long-Term Care Program when it was initially offered last year. Due to strong demand, the CalPERS board of administration approved another three-month application period, which began on the first of April and runs through June 30. There is no assurance if or when CalPERS will offer future enrollment opportunities after the current application period ends.
Long-term care insurance covers the cost of extended personal care such as help with bathing and eating and other essential everyday activities when patients cannot perform such activities themselves due to a chronic medical condition, physical disability, or frailty.
