Name change for Hospice Nurses Association
The Pittsburgh-based Hospice Nurses Association has voted overwhelmingly to change its name to the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) and was announced in October at the NHO annual meeting in Atlanta. HPNA is also expanding its mission and membership to include end-of-life care in all settings.
As the model of palliative care for patients in the final year or two of life gains in currency, the expertise of hospice nurses will be needed in other settings of care for other patients, explains HPNA president Susan Mann, RN, CRNH, from Wichita, KS.
The association is also planning an educational conference in San Diego, Feb. 13 to 15, 1998. For information contact HPNA at (412) 361-2470. Fax: (412) 361-2425. E-mail: [email protected].
