Bioinformatics workshop offered
The Canadian Genetic Diseases Network (Vancouver, Canada) and the Biotechnology Human Resources Council have announced the launch of a web site that will offer a pilot program of short workshop in bioinformatics. The short courses are the beginning of an initiative to train industry and academic scientists in the use of new research tools in biotechnology.
The first two-week workshop will originate from the University of Calgary from Aug. 2-14. Three additional workshops are scheduled for Genomics (Vancouver, January 2000), Proteomics (Toronto, May 2000) and Developing the Tools (Montreal, July 2000). The workshops feature "a broad introduction to this new interdisciplinary science . . . and practical instruction on using existing software tools."
