ECRI publishes report on Y2K contingency plans for healthcare
ECRI (Plymouth Meeting, PA) has published a special report, "Five Minutes to Midnight: Practical Y2K Contin gency Plans for Healthcare Facilities," which provides healthcare organizations with detailed and practical Y2K planning advice for mission-critical systems.
The report, which will be available in April, is based on ECRI’s expertise in Y2K issues and healthcare risk management. Topics covered include clinical support of patients, medical device compliance, documentation, year 2000 liability exposures, media relations, dealing with staff fears and anxieties, Y2K best practices, and more.
"Five Minutes to Midnight" features Y2K contingency plan templates for critical systems in healthcare facilities. The tools are drawn from ECRI’s experience in helping more than 1,200 healthcare facilities with Y2K planning. "Five Minutes to Midnight" also includes action recommendations for preparing for a Y2K-induced event.
ECRI is a nonprofit international health services research agency that provides information and technical assistance to the healthcare community to support safe and cost-effective patient care.
