OSHA issues fact sheets on violence, PPE
The Occupational Safety and Health Admini-stration has issued new fact sheets on workplace violence and personal protective equipment (PPE). In a simple question-and-answer format, the two-page sheets provide general information for both employers and workers. The fact sheet on workplace violence specifically addresses home health care, advising employers to "[d]evelop policies and procedures covering visits by home health care providers. Address the conduct of home visits, the presence of others in the home during visits, and the worker’s right to refuse to provide services in a clearly hazardous situation."
The workplace violence fact sheet is available at www.osha-slc.gov/OshDoc/data_General_Facts/factsheet-workplace-violence.pdf. The PPE fact sheet is available at www.osha-slc.gov/Osh Doc/data_General_Facts/ppe-factsheet.pdf.
