Greetings, and Thanks to Leon Speroff

Several months ago, Leon asked whether I would take over the duties of editing OB/GYN Clinical Alert. I carefully considered this before agreeing. With so many sources of high-quality information available to clinicians, is OB/GYN Clinical Alert still relevant? What could I bring to ensure the high quality of the publication?
I am certain that many of you have continued to subscribe not only for the excellent reviews, but also for the insightful commentary of my dear friend and mentor. Leon is a rock star in our field with a well-deserved reputation for scholarly excellence. His encyclopedic knowledge of hormone therapy and clinical wisdom are inspirational and unmatched. We have shared an office area for the last several years, and I consider myself fortunate to have had ready access to his brain power. I will miss this proximity. Fortunately, I know where he lives, and extracted a promise from him that we could still meet on a regular basis to discuss the state of the specialty and ideas for OB/GYN Clinical Alert. I hope this will ease the transition for you too.
Transition can bring opportunity. For Leon, this will include more time to enjoy his favorite activities. Since he only had time to publish four excellent non-medical books during his last several years at the University, we can only hope that his productivity will improve. I hope that you will use this time of transition to let me know what you like and don't like about our current format. OB/GYN Clinical Alert will only remain relevant if it meets your needs. I hope to bring my own style to the newsletter, while holding to the standard of the founding editor: "Express a clinically meaningful opinion."
