Florida web site compares hospices

The FloridaHealthFinder.gov web site has been redesigned, and a new hospice comparison tool has been added. (Editor's note: Under "Find and Compare," click on "Compare Hospice Providers.")

The comparison tool, from the Agency for Health Care Administration, shares results from hospices that have families fill out the "Family Evaluation of Hospice Care" survey. The survey asks about quality of care, meeting the patient's personal needs, respect for the patient, information provided to the family, the response to evening and weekend needs, and overall patient care. The results are submitted voluntarily from each licensed Florida hospice provider and presented in a star ranking.

The Florida web site also allows comparison of the price and performance of hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, emergency departments, health plans, nursing homes, and prescription drugs.
