At this years annual conference of the American Heart Association, there was strong interest among physicians who treat heart disease in the use of minimally invasive therapies for conditions that, until recently, have been treated exclusively by surgery, and in particular in devices that allow non-surgical treatment of patent foramen ovale, atrial-septal defect and carotid artery stenoses.
