One-stop report card source on MCOs
Looking for an easy, one-stop source for managed care company report cards? Believe it or not, one exists. Managed Care On-Line (MCOL, which is on the World Wide Web at www.mcol. com) offers a report including these report cards:
• NCFA: Best Practices HMO Report;
• Newsweek: Foundation for Accountability Rating of America’s Largest HMOs;
• FEHBP: Customer Satisfaction Survey;
• National Research Corporation: Health Plan Report Card;
• NCQA: Accreditation Performance;
• Cal-Pers: Health Plan Quality/Performance Report;
• Pacific Group on Health: Health Plan Value Check.
Based on these studies, 27 HMOs were identified as the highest rated. Three received top ational ratings: DeanCare of Wisconsin, Harvard Community Health Plan of Massachusetts, and HealthAmerica of Pennsylvania. Health Plan of the Redwoods in California received top ratings in California studies and in one national study.
