Joint Commission publishes resource book
To help home care and hospice organizations ensure staff competency, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) has published a new resource book, titled Home Care and Hospice Staff Competence: Examples of Compliance.
The book addresses staff competence, usually the greatest determinant of the quality of care, by helping organizations optimize staff members’ capabilities, establish programs to assess employees’ skills, and identify education and training needs.
Divided into three chapters, the guide covers the JCAHO’s competency requirements, competency standards for survey activities, and real-world examples of compliance with standards.
The book costs $40. To order, contact the JCAHO Customer Service Center weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Central Time. Telephone: (630) 792-5800. The book code is HC-900EM.
