Geier offers these sample checklist items from a three-page employee orientation checklist by the Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America:
• Tour of center and area of responsibility;
• Chemical hazard analysis form;
• Employee handbook review and acknowledgement form;
• Organizational chart;
• Mission, goals, objectives, principles, and signed acknowledgement;
• Exposure control plan;
• Infection control — policies and test;
• Risk management and adverse incident reporting policy;
• Advance directives/patient rights;
• Latex allergy;
• Fire/life safety;
• Utilities and equipment;
• Hazardous materials and waste;
• Security and safety;
• Sterilization/care and handling of instruments;
• Material data safety sheets.
